Councillor Laura Ennis

What motivated you to become a councillor?

After years of complaining to people about things not happening in our town, I decided to run and see if I could change anything if possible. I realised after running for the 2019 election that women of my age weren’t represented well.

Background Outside the Council

Since leaving school I have worked in retail for around 20 years and also worked in school as a lunchtime supervisor, which I continue to do. I have four children which keep myself very busy with the usually mom life. I returned to education a few years ago to get my Maths and English GCSEs to a better level and I did an access course in higher education in health.

Hobbies or Interests

I love walking and have started to really enjoy our garden at home. I’m really interested in ways of trying to help Bees and other wildlife. I enjoy renovation shows and would love to try renovating an older property one day.
