What motivated you to become a councillor?
Having retired at a ridiculously young age (50) with a very nice pension and then spending the next 15 yrs. enjoying myself, I decided that it was time to contribute to life and the community and becoming a Councillor was my way of achieving that. I had previously been a member of the Village Hall Committee and had been very involved in community life. Becoming District Councillor in my ward gives me the opportunity to realise my aim.
My election pledge to my constituents was that I would work for, on behalf of and for the benefit of the constituents irrespective of individuals political affiliation. I hope all Councillors share that commitment.
Background outside the council
Work wise I was a dental surgeon in the days when we had an NHS dental service. I was also a part-time clinical lecturer at the University of Manchester Dental Hospital. Now, to fulfil my aim to put something back into the community, I work for the Police Commissioner as an Appropriate Adult. I also sing and entertain in Care Homes and at money raising functions (Alrewas Con. Solstice Supper, buy a ticket) I have also been a Parish Councillor for about ten years.
Hobbies or interests
My interests and hobbies are life in general. Basically, I think that, for many reasons, I am very lucky and I want life to go on for ever.
