Councillor Leona Leung

What motivated you to become a councillor?

I have always been involved in community work, it is so meaningful to make a positive difference to the community and to bring quality to local areas.

Fostering diversity and inclusivity in local politics is an importance, demonstrating that individuals of all backgrounds, genders, and ages can actively participate in shaping our communities.

Having grown up and residing in Lichfield district with my family, it is important to look at long term needs and interests for future generations as well as the improving current affairs.

I am keen to preserving our district's rich history and the natural beauty of our surroundings, as these elements contribute to the unique identity and character of Lichfield district.

Additionally, it is important that local facilities are easily accessible; particularly focusing on the needs of our youth and elderly population to promote both physical and mental well-being in the long term.

Background outside the council

Mother of three, with work background in property and tourism sector, also involved in being a guest lecturer and community media projects.

I enjoy volunteering in a range of local and national projects, such as actively participate in promoting safety awareness, children's community classes, bridging gaps between different community groups.

I am honoured to have received range of awards for my community work, such as Mulan Women's Awards Winner: Contribution to Community, Good Neighbour/Citizen Community award, Women of the Future Community Spirits Finalist, CIAC Women Volunteer of the Year Finalist.

Hobbies or interests

Enjoying family time, along with maintaining an active lifestyle which promotes positive physical and mental well-being, such as dance, long walks in nature, arts & crafts. (Basically, simply taking a moment to cherish what is around us and finding enjoyment in the little things can greatly enrich our lives!)

I am a keen supporter our district's local groups and events throughout the year; there is so much to see and to do in Lichfield district - I am proud to represent our local area.
