Cabinet Member for Major Projects and Economic Development
The Cabinet Member is responsible for:
Strategic lead on sustainable waste management including Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Joint Waste Board and other partnership support; Environmental education and awareness including Eco Schools scheme; Local Area Agreement partnership on cleaner, greener agenda and sustainable development/carbon reduction; operation of street scene services including street cleansing, fly tipping and abandoned vehicle removal, domestic and commercial waste collection and recycling, drainage and flood defence.
Corporate lead for Leisure and Parks, the 3 Leisure Centres; Ground Maintenance; corporate lead on greens and open spaces including Beacon Park; environmental partnerships including Cannock Chase Area of Natural Beauty (ANOB) and the National Forest; arboricultural management of Parks; reservoir management; Heritage Parks operation; sports development, sports partnerships; positive activities for young people.
The provision of a shared Health & Safety (H&S) Service for Lichfield DC, Stafford BC & Tamworth BC, Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Legislation, H&S Policy/Procedures development and Implementation, Advice, guidance and support to the whole Council, Provision of Corporate Insurance Services and Accident Investigation, Risk Management Strategy Implementation & Support and for supporting the strategic partnership agreement with the Lichfield Garrick.
